The central role of a free press in a free society is to serve as a watchdog on government and other powerful institutions. It is to champion the little guy, the underdog – to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted. That's why the Founding Fathers of this great nation included in the First Amendment special protections for the free press. They understood the vital role the free flow of information plays in an open, self-governing society.

The Democrats are clearly romancing American Muslims. If it means more planes go down in flames, so be it. If it means non-Muslims will be the only people inconvenienced in airports, so be it. If it means opening up our back door to terrorists, so be it.

Charles Darwin had no understanding of molecular biology. That's why he was free to speculate that if an animal flapped its arms long enough they might someday turn into wings – wings he could leave to his offspring. But today we know that's not the way molecular biology works.

The fundamental flaw of conservatism is its tendency toward defense. It is simply a natural law that you don't win conflicts this way. And, make no mistake about it, politics is about conflict.
